3 steps to creating your Love Vision Board!

Have you ever heard anyone say that vision boards don’t work? Someone told me exactly that recently. She said that that she had made a vision board and put a picture of a house on it - she ended up buying a house, but it wasn’t the house that was on her vision board!

Vision Boards can work very potently, and they work in interesting ways. How things manifest for us is not linear, or direct, or passive. The potency is undeniable when we are open to the ambiguity, yet total magic, that is vision boarding! This blog is about how to create a vision board specifically for Love.

A vision board is usually a large piece of card board or a piece of paper with images and words stuck on it, in a manifestation collage of your intentions and goals in life.  They can be creative in whatever way is  special to you. The words and images are usually cut out of magazines, or can be drawn or found on the net, or you can use photos. You choose images that represent what you would love to come into your life and into your experience.

A Love vision board is exactly the same - however, we’re using the power of vision boarding to focus predominantly on what you would like to attract in your life partner! Anyone can make a love vision board but I am talking about it today from the lens of somebody who is single and wants to attract lasting love….

People sometimes ask me if I put other aspects of life on my love vision board – the answer is absolutely! As we do so, we’re seeing everything from the lens of love. For example, if you have a home on your vision board , perhaps you like the idea of living with your future partner. If you have a car on your vision board, decide if that is your car, or if it’s a shared car between yourself and your future partner.

When it comes to health, you may have a picture of yourself exercising, or eating healthy food, and imagine how that would fit into your lifestyle with the partner you’re attracting. Would you do some of the exercise together, or would that be more your own thing?

Ultimately, the partner, home, health and so on brings you a feeling. What do you want to feel? Like you are having fun, supported, happy, free?

These feelings are the ultimate goal – even if it doesn't feel like it, which is amazing as we can find other ways to feel them and fulfil those needs. Then, the goal of the partner, home, job becomes less necessary, and therefore held more lightly and easier to come by. Ironic isn’t it? Know what you want, vision board it, make choices to be able to feel what you want to feel without your goals coming true and this in turn helps them actually come true! Lol

The reason that creating a love vision board is so important is that I know how much you want this. Having worked in the attract love space for 8 years now, I have held space for the goal and desire to find love many times. It’s important to you. So why wouldn’t you set your goal up in the most effective way, and work towards that goal?

Sports people have a goal in mind. That’s how they work towards it. Having your vision board created and either up on the wall to see regularly, or even tucked away and looked at occasionally helps you not only become a vibrational match to what you want to attract, but also helps you to work towards it in a practical real world way.

Back to the woman who shared with me that vision boards don’t work - I understand that she was attached to what actually showed up. And that’s totally okay. It’s ok to have some attachment to what rocks up, but we also need to celebrate our successes!

I found it so interesting that the meaning she took from that experience was that vision boards don’t work…  It certainly didn’t work in the way she wanted it to. However, when we celebrate the success we do have, we can then simply create a new vision board with a picture of a new house and work towards that.

Have you ever created a vision board? I started dabbling with vision boards in my 20s. These days I create one every year. I love it so very much – I just cannot describe the beauty of setting our intentions in this way and also watching miraculous things unfolding. However, to truly manifest like a pro, it’s not a spectator sport, the Law of attraction responds to action.

To start, you need some old (or new!) magazines you are happy to cut up, a large sheet of card or paper (A3 or larger is best), scissors, glue, pens, colours, sparkles, stickers - whatever makes your heart sing in the stationary department.

3 steps to creating your Love Vision Board!

1. Clear the way

Firstly, do some clearing. I recommend EFT tapping, journaling, hypnosis, breathwork, meditation or any number of modalities to clear anything clouding your tender heart when it comes to love. Thoughts such as ‘all the good ones are taken’ or ‘it’s just not going to happen for me’  are the kinds of thoughts that need to be cleared out of the way first. This kind of inner work, clears our energy fields – patterns, energy from the past and stagnation.

2. Tune into what you want

Write down the values, qualities and lifestyle choices you would love in a partner. Feel into it deeply and be specific. There are so many examples from my own life and from those of friends and clients where they wish they had been more specific when placing their orders with the Universe!

For example, my children and I wanted to let our cat have just the one litter of kittens. We were all so excited about having a house full of kittens and we were going to keep just one of them. One of the little girls in my daughter‘s class was going to get to keep one…. We were all looking forward to it so much….

I put an image of a lion on my vision board. That lion represented our cat, Tama. I realised we could only keep one of them so I put an image of a baby Cheetah cub and popped him on the vision board. Yes, even though I teach this stuff, I was not being specific enough about what my heart truly desired. So imagine our surprise when instead of her having a litter of kittens, she actually just had the ONE kitten! So happy and a bit sad all at once – lol a cute example of being specific on your vision board.

Sometimes the universe provides what you need instead of what you want. To be honest I didn’t really need the stress and hassle of finding homes for between 4 and 10 kittens! The Universe, or some people would call that energy God, knew better than me. And now we have a cheeky, but loving boy cat called Benji. We are truly blessed – but still, be very careful of what you pray for.

Rather than just saying ‘good communications skills’ perhaps what you really mean is the ability to engage in both small talk at events, and have the deeper conversations about life. If you want a person with integrity, write a list on an actual piece of paper about what that means to you. Perhaps it means doing what you say you’re going to do. If you want someone healthy, tune into what means to you. Does it mean you want someone who cares about what they eat and likes to move? Or do you mean someone who trains for several hours a day? Those two experiences of life are quite different, which one do you want?

3. Collect images and words
Intuitively flick through the magazines and cut out what speaks to your heart, even if it makes no sense.

4. Start creating

I then use some of the images and words on the large cardboard, and some I may recycle or keep for subsequent years. Arrange images and words of the kind of person and relationship you want to attract and start gluing with glee! Think about what you want to give, receive, how you want to feel in that relationship, and how you want to show up in a relationship as well. And the other aspects of life – health, money, home, job, spirit – whatever you feel to add.

It depends what kind of aesthetic you like, some people like to cut out images of flowers or colours to put in the background and then stick other images in the foreground. Other people seem to have a very beautiful aesthetic where they are simply thinking how they want to feel and choose images that help them feel like that. You may choose to pop each area of life in different section of the vision board, one year I even looked up the Feng sui of what to put where!

5. Energise

Once you have created your vision board for love, it’s time to imbibe it with your energy and your intentions. Close your eyes and say a blessing and a prayer for your year going forward.

Remember, it doesn’t mean that each of the things on this vision board will come to pass in this calendar year – I really enjoy seeing what comes to pass that year as well as being relaxed in the knowledge that some things are percolating for the future, or perhaps even for a different space and time. This is what I mean when I say vision boards are not linear. When I say they are not passive, I mean we need to actually do real world action and be proactive in bringing about what we want into our world. I am SO excited for you that you are considering a love vision board, taking care of the energetics and, when you couple that with real world action, this is where the Gold lies!
